Thank you for visiting the official website for the 27th Annual George Washington Bridge Challenge(GWBC); the only event that shuts down the busiest bridge in the country to raise money for cancer research, local programs, support and education. Hosted by the American Cancer Society, this event brings together over 2,400 participants who can walk or run 2 magnificently designed 5K and 10K courses.
The views that only our registered participants can take advantage of, are absolutely breathtaking both on and off the George Washington Bridge. They enjoy snacks and entertainment along the way and are greeted by a grand Finish Line Party, equipped with kids activities, live music, entertainment, food vendors, and lots of fun at The Ross Dock inside Palisades State Park! Shuttle service will be provided back to parking lots for all.
Early bird registrants receive a discounted registration by signing up before March 1, so don’t miss out on all the fun! This event is family friendly and helps us fund programs that really make a difference in the lives of our friends, families and neighbors that may one day face those harsh words we all fear.
Because of the contributions of our generous participants, we have been able to fund:
- Over 148 Million dollars in research – last year alone
- We were able to give 24/7 support in 90 languages – we answered a phone call every 30 seconds on our cancer support hotline.
- We were able to save cancer patients and their caregivers over 27 million dollars, by letting them stay at Hope Lodge
These are just some ways that your generous donations were put to work.
Join us on Sunday, June 8th, 2014 and help us save more lives and create more birthdays!
Registration starts bright and early at the Port Authority Parking Lot located at
220 Bruce Reynolds Parking Lot – See you there!!
