American Cancer Society Run For Dad

Come join us for the 11th annual RUN FOR DAD on Father's Day, June 16th, 2013 in the beautiful Mercer County Park in West Windsor, New Jersey. Registration begins at 7:15 am with the run and walk starting at 8:45am.
Prostate Cancer is the leading cause of death in American men, second to lung cancer. In 2012, over 240,741 men in the US were diagnosed with prostate cancer and 28,170 of those men will die from the disease. New Jersey has the third highest incidence per capita of prostate cancer in the US. Even worse, in African American men, the incidence is roughly 60% higher than those of white or Asian men. There is good news however. The 5-year survival rate for men whose prostate cancer is detected early is nearly 100% and 93% of men diagnosed with prostate cancer will live 10 years or more. Education, awareness and personal action are saving lives and finding a cure.
RUN FOR DAD is the American Cancer Society’s premiere community event to raise funds and build awareness about prostate cancer. Last year, 1,500 people participated in RUN FOR DAD. Proceeds from the event support prostate cancer research, support and local programs for patients and family services for newly diagnosed with Prostate Cancer.
RUN FOR DAD honors the memory of Frank Simms, co-founder of the Run, who lost his battle with prostate cancer in 2005.
While there is a 5K run on a USATF certified, traffic free course, the event also includes a 2-mile walk on a park road and paved trails as well as short races for kids. Random prize drawings, special goodies for kids and summer snacks combine to make RUN FOR DAD 2013 a positive and fun way to honor our fathers.
