Swim for Cancer began in 1973 and has since become a tradition in the Greensboro swimming community.  Each year over 2,400 young swimmers from 23 summer swim programs within the Community Swim Association of Greensboro, gather at their pools to raise money for the American Cancer Society’s Swim for Cancer campaign.  Swim for Cancer is the largest fund-raising swimming event in the country and the American Cancer Society’s longest running fund-raiser of any kind!  Over the years the fund-raising effort has raised over $4.1 million in the fight against cancer.  The community has been very generous and swimmers, coaches, and parent volunteers have worked very hard over the years to keep the program alive and growing.

Your participation allows the American Cancer Society to help people facing cancer today and find cures to end the disease tomorrow. Through sponsorship, and the fundraising efforts of our participants, we will finish the fight against cancer.

Fundraising Tips

The number one reason people donate to American Cancer Society events is because someone asked them to.

Dewey Dash LogoBanner

Greensboro has a NEW and exciting event that is the first to benefit Swim for Cancer.  We will be kicking off the first John Dewey Dash 5k run & 1 mile dash, coming May 16th 2018.  This race will be located at Mendenhall Middle School in Greensboro. We have designed this race for all ages to participate and have fun. Our GOAL is for any participant to allocate their race fee to support a local swimmer or club of your choice. When you and your family go online to register.
