2008 Run For Dad Donate Button

Thank you to everyone who came out to join us at Run For Dad on Father's Day, June 15, 2008. We had an amazing crowd of runners, walkers, families and teams. Your support helps to raise awareness about prostate cancer and helps to fight the disease.

Your donations are still being accepted online. You can also mail your donation to the American Cancer Society Attn: Run For Dad 3076 Princeton Pike, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.

Join us again next year for the 7th annual Run For Dad on Father's Day, June 21, 2009!

So far we have raised $35,568.95!

It’s Father’s Day, 2008 and you’re looking for a fun, healthy experience for you, your dad and your family. Well, we’ve got the answer. Join us on Sunday, June 15, 2008, in beautiful Mercer County Park in New Jersey, as we raise awareness about prostate cancer and money to support prostate cancer research projects and prostate cancer screenings for men..

Our event includes something for everyone; a 5K run, a 2 mile walk and the Kids Run For Dad. So bring the whole family. We have a Kids Zone with a face painter, a clown who does many fun things such as balloon animals, as well as small craft projects and other fun activities. We start early and end early so you’ll be home in time to take Dad to brunch or have that family BBQ.  Over 1000 joined us in 2007.  Why don't you join us this year?

Why is this important?

Prostate cancer is the most common type of cancer found in American men, other than skin cancer. The American Cancer Society estimated that there were about 218,890 new cases of prostate cancer in the United States in 2007.  About 27,350 men will died of this disease last year. Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in men after lung cancer. While 1 man in 6 will get prostate cancer during his lifetime, because of advances in early detection and treatment, only 1 man in 34 will die of this disease. The death rate for prostate cancer is going down, and the disease is being found earlier as well due to education activities and screenings such as those supported by RUN FOR DAD.

The sixth annual RUN FOR DAD is a community and family event of the American Cancer Society designed to raise awareness about prostate cancer in men and to highlight the importance of screening and early detection. A small group of prostate cancer survivors, concerned health care professionals and other community and corporate activists manage the event.  All proceeds go to support prostate cancer research projects, prostate cancer screenings and other prostate cancer awareness activities.
